125-ft statue of Bir Lachit Borphukan unveiled in Assam

Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiled a 125-ft statue of Bir Lachit Borphukan at the latter’s ‘maidam’ (burial site) in Assam’s Jorhat district. This was part of the Lachit Barphukan Maidam Development Project at Hollongapar, a Rs 214 crore to develop the place into a major tourist spot.
